Dome design with a knurled edge.

These grips are very comfortable and  have  great  tactile feedback.

Dome design gives you a larger contact area and feels very planted throughout the range of motion.

Great choice for Sony defectors.

  1. Great convex grips 5 Star Review

I prefer convex over concave any day so these were a must for me. I was concerned about them being a little slick but haven't had any problems so definitely a winner.

  2. Slippery when wet 4 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Dec 2012

I find my fingers slipping off of the sticks often... Rubber grips don't work very well... If you get some plasti dip and dip the dome they are the best sticks ever... With plasti dip you won't slip off only draw back is the dip wears off so there is a need to re dip every few months... I give a 4 star rating only because of the grip issue otherwise these are AWESOME!!!

  3. A bit on the thin side. 3 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Sep 2012

Bought these with my pro sticks for the Ps3. The surface itself didnt work too well for me with sweaty and oily fingers, and i always need thumbstick caps to prevent slipping. These were no different being made of aluminium. They look very nice and are well made, but since they are so thin, not all thumb caps will fit well, especially not the Dominator Grips from Talismoon, which are my favourites.. I have another brand, Geltabz, which does fit snuggly, but they are more slippery. Generic brands i have not tested.

Overall build quality is good and the finish is nice, but i wish they were thicker like the OEM so compatibility with different cap makes were not an issue. If you have access to a lathe this is easily fixed by making your own grips thick enough for caps, but not everyone has access to that. Word to modsticks, please redesign these to emulate the OEM sticks thickness better, or introduce an alternative and it would score at least 4 stars.

  4. Satisfied Customer 4 Star Review

Really nice grips. The only con is that the grip becomes slippery on top while playing. Needs silicone or rubber coating.

  5. Better than the Fusion or Dish grips 4 Star Review

Posted by on 29th Feb 2012

I've tested both the Fusion and Dome grip types extensively, back and forth, back and forth... and finally decided that the Dome grip is the best. I like both the Fusion and the Dome, but Dome feels better on my thumb just because there's more contact area, and no hole in the middle, resulting in more grip overall. It's especially better for long-range gun battles and lining up sniper shots. I feel very accurate and precise when using the Dome grip.

My only complain about the Dome grips (and ALL the Modsticks grips in general) is that they lack texture and/or a rubber coating to keep your thumb from sliding around. The smooth, bare aluminum just doesn't offer enough traction for your thumb for extended play periods. I was able to alleviate this by spraying the grips down with 5-7 healthy coats of "Super Grip" rubber spray coating, and now they have plenty of grip for my thumb. However, I would like to see Modsticks create some sort of an in-house solution to the problem of the slippery bare aluminum grips.
